September 2026 Afterschool Highlights: Learning, Movement & Fall Fun

September was a busy and exciting month in our Afterschool Program! As everyone settled into the new school year, our students enjoyed a balance of homework support, Taekwondo training, active games, creative projects, and special fall-themed activities.

Building Skills Through Taekwondo

Taekwondo is an important part of our regular afterschool schedule. Students spend approximately 50 minutes practicing Taekwondo on their designated training days. Our younger students train on Mondays and Wednesdays, while our older students train on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Throughout September, students practiced together on the mats, following their instructors through drills, techniques, movement exercises, and other training activities. In addition to keeping students active, our Taekwondo time gives them opportunities to practice focus, listening, coordination, perseverance, and working toward personal goals.

Homework, Arts & Crafts, and Gym Games

Our afternoons are designed to give children different ways to learn, create, and stay active. Students who have homework can spend time in the afterschool room completing their assignments. When students are not participating in Taekwondo, they rotate through arts and crafts and gym activities.

September’s arts and crafts embraced the beginning of fall. Students worked with paper, paint, cupcake liners, googly eyes, and other materials to create colorful seasonal projects. Their creations included pumpkins, hedgehogs, owls, corn, and other fall-inspired artwork. Each project gave the children an opportunity to use their imagination and make something uniquely their own.

Gym time kept everyone moving with group games, cones, hoops, jump ropes, balls, and other activities. It was a great way for students to use their energy, interact with friends, and enjoy active play after the school day.

Special September Activities

We added some extra fun to the month with hands-on seasonal activities. Students tested their guesses with a candy corn guessing game, got creative and messy making pumpkin slime, and headed to the kitchen area to make rainbow smoothies. The smoothie activity was especially hands-on, with students helping prepare ingredients before everyone had a chance to taste the finished creation.

Fun Fridays!

Fridays are something our students can look forward to all week. Fun Friday gives everyone a chance to celebrate the end of the school week with activities that are all about movement, friendship, and fun.

This month, students enjoyed the bouncy house, jump rope, games on the mats, and group activities. After a week filled with schoolwork, Taekwondo, crafts, and structured activities, Friday provides time to play and enjoy being together.

A Great Start to the School Year

September gave us a wonderful start to our 2026–2027 afterschool year. From concentrating on homework and practicing Taekwondo to creating fall artwork, making smoothies, playing games, and bouncing into the weekend, our students had plenty of opportunities to learn, move, create, and have fun.

We are excited to see what the rest of the school year brings!
